The Brousseau and Brousseau Gallery was created in 1974 by Raymond Brousseau
More than 50 years of passion!
Raymond Brousseau inaugurated his first gallery in Quebec in 1974. For more than 50 years, his goal has been the same, to make this exceptional art known in Quebec, in Canada and around the world. A collector since 1956, Raymond Brousseau created the neighbor to the Brousseau Gallery in 1999, the ¨Brousseau Museum of Inuit Art¨ a non-profit gallery, housed in 500 square meters.
The Brousseau Museum of Inuit Art¨ has allowed several hundred thousand visitors over the past 5 years to be exposed to this exceptional art for the first time.
Raymond Brousseau organized and orchestrated several cultural exhibits of Inuit art en Europe in order to make this exceptional art more widely known.
The permanent space, the Hydro Quebec Room, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Jean Charest in 2007 in order to exhibit several works which were part of the original donation. This Inuit art room demonstrates the evolution of this collection. This permanent collection is open to the public and free of charge.
